Downwinders — You Were Exposed!
What is RECA?
What is a Downwinder?
Individuals who lived, worked, or attended school for at least one year between 1951–1962 in Utah, Idaho, Arizona (certain counties), or Nevada, or between 1944–1962 in New Mexico, and were later diagnosed with a covered cancer, leukemia (not CLL), or lymphoma (not Hodgkin’s).
How Do I File & Who Can Help?
You are not required to use an attorney to file a RECA claim. Applications are available at the Department of Justice RECA website.
What Happens Next?
- Start your free check — send an email or call 1-844-RECA911.

Fee note: On initial RECA claims, attorney fees are capped by law at 2% plus reasonable costs. Get any fee agreement in writing and avoid ANY company charging above the cap.
